109 - 111 South Main Street fire.

On April 22 at 12 :48 am. the Vigilance Hose Co. #1 was dispatched to 4 Belvidere Street or a reported High Occupancy dwelling fire. A short time later, dispatch advised responding units that fire was actually at 109 - 111 South Main Street. Police arrived on scene and updated units the back of that address was fully involved. Police began evacuating nearby apartments. Based on information from police, 5051 (Johnson) had Northampton county dispatch our second alarm departments. Upon arrival of the first engine (5012) crews began fire suppression in the rear of the building. As additional crews arrived, fire suppression began on floors 2 and 3 from the front of the address. Command had Met-Ed de-energize power to the area due aerial operations (5021,2722) and Snozzle operation (5311). Crews worked for approximately 3 hours until the fire was declared out. 6 residents were displaced for the apartments on the second and third floors. The China Wok restaurant was also badly damaged in the fire and the entire building is uninhabitable. Due to the extent of the damage, the Pennsylvania State Police fire investigation was called in to investigate this fire and determine a cause and origin.
