Volunteer With Us

We are a team and a family at the Vigilance Hose Company No. 1, and we are always eager to welcome new members into our organization. The Vigilance Hose Company No. 1, like most volunteer organizations can always use more help. To join, simply stop in the fire station located at 49 S. We have many membership opportunities including:

Active Firefighter - Active firefighters are members who handle all front line fire suppression and rescue efforts, and have voting rights. Active members must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.

Associate Member - Associate members may not participate in active firefighting activities, but may assist in rehab functions at fire scenes and fundraising activities. Associate members must be 18 years of age at time of application.

Junior Firefighter - Junior firefighters may not participate in active firefighting activities, but may assist in support functions at fire scenes. Junior firefighters must be at least 14 years of age at time of application. Valid working papers must also accompany application.

Fire Police - These are active members who are empowered by the municipality to perform traffic control and scene control duties as prescribed by Pennsylvania statute. Fire Police are voting members of the company and must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
