Car fire, 720 Nazareth Road (Route 248 just west of Georgetown Road.)

On November 18, at 10:15 pm Station 50 was dispatched for a car fire. At 10:17 police arrived on scene and reported that the car appeared to be involved in an accident and it was fully involved. Captain Betz (5054) arrived and took command of the incident. At 10:23 Engine 5011 arrived and crews began extinguishing the fire which was contained to the rear seat and undercarrige (fuel tank) area. The fire was declared out at 10:35. It was determined that the vehicle was involved in an accident about 3 miles west of the fire scene in Upper Nazareth. The vehicle fled the scene of the accident and eventually caught fire due to the damage from the earlier accident. Nazareth Regional EMS assisted at scene. Upper Nazareth Fire department assisted with road closures in the area. The driver of the vehicle who left the fire scene on foot, was located in the area of Giant food stores. Fast Lane Towing removed the vehicle from the scene and the road was re-opened at 11:24.
